[Melbourne, Adelaide, Mid North, Hong Kong]

This trip has been nice, not least of all because it gave me opportunity to escape the spate of earthquakes which shook the Kanto region. Scary.

Melbourne was its beautiful self, much the same as it was when I left, bar a few new establishments, I still think I'll live there again one day.

Adelaide was great, also graced with new things that provided interest, but they really need a task force to keep people out of their homes after dark. Perhaps there could be a system of steep fines for staying home on Sunday nights or something. I saw loads of lovely friends, attended a New Buffalo concert, a folk show and a 40th birthday party, among other things.

My brief excursion to the Mid North of SA requires little expansion. Enough said already I think. Basically I have little to connect me to that part of the world anymore (it was strange seeing the house all empty and partially moth eaten [already!]), but the countryside was a beautiful green 'patchwork', to employ a passable cliche.

Hong Kong is astonishing. It feels like people are living here. I just love the way a whole city infrastructure seems to have been dumped on the smallest possible bit of space and millions of people thrown in to populate it with not a whole lot of rhyme or reason as to anything. It's so good.

I fly out to Tokyo tomorrow. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
